Each of our training plans features a heavy focus on canine meditation. This is the process of rewarding a dog for calming their own nervous system. The result is a regulated dog who is better equipped to interact with the world around them.
Proper behavior modification is truly about exposing your dog to stimuli as slow as humanly possible, at a rate where your dog isn't showing any signs of stress (ideally), to help them go from a place of safety to a place of safety a bit closer. Proper counterconditioning should be "like watching paint dry". It should look like we're not gaining any emotional response as we move slightly closer to the cue that is ramping up their nervous system with stress, fear, overexcitment, or anxiety.
Our trainers use science-based training techniques that have been proven to be effective in modifying dog behavior. We believe in using methods that are based on the latest research in animal behavior and psychology to help dogs learn and thrive. Our methods are fear-free, trauma-informed, and force-free, always.
We will work with your dog one-on-one throughout the duration of your behavior modification plan. You are more than welcome to sit in on training sessions to learn the process, but it is not required! You will receive training updates from each session which include notes, photos, and videos. We'll work with you along the way in dedicated transfer sessions. We generally come to your home every day for behavior modification training.
During our consult, we'll determine if you or your dog may benefit from some of our additional services. This may include hikes to get some energy out, dayschool to practice basic manners throughout the day, or boarding to give you a breather while we complete the behavior modification plan! These additional services are all about meeting the needs of you and your pup.
We offer daily **in-home training sessions (generally Monday-Friday) to clients in southern Maine and New Hampshire. If you're outside of the area, we are more than happy to schedule an aversive-free board-and-train program where your pup will come spend a few weeks with us to acquire new skills. We offer Zoom training sessions as well! Generally, this looks like bringing your dog to where their cue is for stress, fear, and anxiety in small, titrated doses so we can teach a new emotional response.
Jump start your pup's training journey with a complimentary in-home meet and greet! We'll come to you, free of charge, to discuss your goals for training. We will work together to build a plan that works for you, your dog, and your budget.
Still on the fence? Book a call or send us a message! We're happy to answer any questions you may have.
Did you know we'll just hop on the phone or come meet you free of charge? We know how important it is to trust your trainer, and we're happy to build that relationship before any commitment!
